Legora is the AI platform for legal work used by Linklaters, Cleary Gottlieb, White & Case, Goodwin, and 1,200+ law firms across 50 markets. To meet the accuracy and data residency standards their clients require, Legora deployed Linkup as the web search layer across their agentic stack, with dedicated regional endpoints provisioned per jurisdiction.

Company
Legora, the AI platform for legal work, serving top-tier global law firms across 50+ markets.
The Problem
Real-time legal research across jurisdictions with zero tolerance for error and enforceable data residency for every sub-processor in the chain.
Implementation
Linkup deployed as the web search layer across Legora's agentic stack, with dedicated regional endpoints provisioned per jurisdiction.
Key Results
- Full sub-processor data residency per geography
- Higher answer completeness on complex multi-hop queries
- Broader source coverage across global legal systems
- Enterprise clients onboarded without compliance exception
About Legora
Legora is an AI platform for legal work, supporting lawyers in research, review, and drafting across complex matters.
Founded in 2023, the company has grown to over 1,200 customers across 50 markets and recently surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue, reaching a $5.6 billion valuation in its Series D funding round. Its client base includes Linklaters, Cleary Gottlieb, White & Case, and Goodwin.
The Friction
Legora encountered three specific gaps with existing search providers. Search results were inconsistent on complex multi-hop legal queries, with hallucination rates that required systematic manual review.
Data residency guarantees were either absent or unenforceable — providers could not commit to processing data within a specific jurisdiction, let alone across the full sub-processor chain. Regional infrastructure coverage was too limited to match Legora's footprint across the EU, US, Australia, and APAC.
For a platform operating across 50+ markets, each with its own data processing obligations, none of these were acceptable.
Why Linkup
Legora evaluated search providers on two requirements: factual accuracy on complex legal queries, and enforceable data residency across all jurisdictions. Linkup was the only provider that satisfied both simultaneously.
Accuracy
Linkup returned the lowest hallucination rates and the highest answer completeness on complex multi-hop queries, with 2–3× greater source diversity across legal systems globally. For legal research workflows, where a missing precedent or an incorrect citation has direct consequences, this was the baseline requirement.
Data residency
Linkup's infrastructure is designed around jurisdictional control. Each query is processed within the region it originates from. EU queries stay in the EU. US queries stay in the US. Australian queries stay in Australia.
The full sub-processor chain is auditable and contractually scoped to the relevant jurisdiction, not as a configuration option, but as the default architecture.
For a significant portion of Legora's enterprise client base — global law firms with their own data governance obligations — both requirements were hard prerequisites.
Implementation
Linkup is deployed as a web search layer within Legora's agentic stack. For each jurisdiction Legora operates in, a dedicated endpoint is provisioned on local infrastructure. Queries are routed to the corresponding endpoint based on their origin, which means no data leaves the jurisdiction.
As Legora expands into new markets, additional endpoints are deployed to match.
From an integration standpoint, the deployment was straightforward. Linkup exposes a single API that plugs directly into Legora's existing stack, with no infrastructure overhead on Legora's side.
Results
- Factual accuracy and answer completeness improved across legal research workflows, reducing the need for manual verification
- Full data residency satisfied at the sub-processor level, across all jurisdictions Legora operates in
- Source coverage expanded across legal systems globally
- Enterprise clients with strict compliance requirements were able to deploy without exception
Conclusion
Legora operates in one of the most compliance-sensitive segments of the enterprise software market. Their clients require guarantees on accuracy, on data residency, and on the full processing chain before any deployment can proceed.
Linkup provided the infrastructure to meet those requirements across all regions simultaneously. Accuracy and data residency are not managed as tradeoffs. They are addressed at the infrastructure level, by design.
